Where is My Doctor?

The snows of January fall silently through the gray-blue light of these dark wintery days. The woods are still and white, the fields wind-swept and bitter. For twenty years I have worked, raised my family, and loved the Berkshires. As I get older I notice more the structure of things, the hidden dependencies, and the forces that define my life experience. I think too about the practice of medicine, and about my patients.

I notice that the state of Vermont is pioneering the Patient Centered Medical Home model. From the Burlington Free Press:

Vermont’s new approach to healthcare is changing the way primary care providers operate their practices. Vermont is one of the few states in the nation that is pushing forward, through the Blueprint for Health, comprehensive health reform toward a patient-centered “medical home” model of care. At its core, the “medical home” is an ongoing partnership between each person and a specially trained primary care physician.

New Massachusetts Health Care Legislation Proposed

Rob Jandl testified on Wednesday in the State Senate on a new piece of legislation, titled “An Act to Promote Cost Containment, Transprency and Efficiency in the Delivery of Quality Health Care.”
